Reda-Fehsal's Two-Run Home Run in 7th Gives Softball Three-Game Sweep at Saint Peter's

Reda-Fehsal goes 3-for-3, hits game-winning HR

JERSEY CITY, NJ Kendall Reda-Fehsal (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) went 3-for-3 with the game-winning two-run home run in the top of the seventh as the Rider University softball earned a three-game road MAAC sweep at Saint Peter's with a 5-4 win in Game 3 of the series on Saturday. With the win, the Broncs' ninth in their last 10 games, Rider improves to 17-27 (11-8 MAAC), while the Peacocks fall to 9-27 (1-15 MAAC).

The Peacocks scored all of their runs on a pair of two-run home runs in the first and third innings from Jess Forte, sandwiched around a Reda-Fehsal run scored in the second following a walk, two wild pitches and a Shea Johnson (Carlsbad, CA/Cathedral Catholic) sacrifice fly.

The Broncs threatened to take the lead in both the fifth and sixth innings, but settled for one run each time. In the fifth, Rider got three-straight singles to open the frame from Fallyn Stoeckel (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), Kiersten Buchanan (Holly Springs, NC/Holly Springs) and Kristyn Gardner (Perryville, MD/Perryville) to cut the deficit to 4-2. But a line-out double play and a flyout thwarted the rally. In the sixth, Reda-Fehsal led off with a double and scored on Noelle Flail's (Woolwich, NJ/Kingway Regional)
pinch-hit RBI single to make it a 4-3 game. Johnson doubled to put runners on second and third and Buchanan drew a two-out walk to load the bases, but Saint Peter's held onto the lead as pitcher Brielle Coppola got a ground ball for an inning-ending fielder's choice.

After Coppola got a flyout to open the seventh, Aspen Wheeler (Lampasas, TX/Lampasas) reached on an infield single, setting the stage for Reda-Fehsal, who drove in 12 in Saturday's doubleheader, but led off each of her first three at bats of the game and didn't have an opportunity to drive in anyone but her self to this point in the game. Reda-Fehsal took full advantage of the opportunity, blasting a letter-high pitch over the right-center field fence for the game-winning two-run home run. Kathryn Schmierer (Racine, WI/Racine Lutheran) then worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to close out the victory.
