LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Giacomo Ghitti (Brescia, Italy/Marco Polo) won at No. 6 singles, but the Rider University men's tennis team fell to Temple, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 6-12, while the Owls improved to 10-7.
The Owls won the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3 and went on to win the top five singles flights.
Matteus Froberg Dahlin (Lidingo, Sweden/Hersby Gymnasium) was most competitive at No. 1, pushing Martim Marujo throughout. However, he fell in three sets, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4.
Ghitti earned his victory at No. 6 in an eight-game pro set, defeating Harshith Pennabadi, 9-8 (6).
The Broncs return to action Friday, when they play host to Fairfield at noon.
