HAMDEN, CT – Maria Buss (Bocholt, Germany/Bischöfliches St.-Josef-Gymnasium Bocholt) and Chloe Monachelli (Somers, NY/Somers) won at No. 3 doubles, but the Rider University women's tennis team fell at Quinnipiac, 7-0, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs' first in league play, Rider falls to 7-9 (3-1 MAAC), while the Bobcats remain unbeaten in conference play at 6-8 (4-0 MAAC).

Buss and Monachelli defeated Ella Lewis and Jordan Bradley, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles. But the Bobcats took the point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2.

The Bobcats went on to win all six singles flights to account for the 7-0 final score. Two flights went to a third set, with Buss and Claire Brown (Duluth, GA/Northview) forcing the extra set at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively. Buss fell to Caitlin Flower, 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4), at No. 2, while Brown was defeated by Vera Sekerina, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6), at No. 4.

The Broncs return to action Tuesday, when they play host to Temple. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
