PHILADELPHIA – Axel Engstrom won at both won at both singles and doubles, but the Rider University men's tennis team fell at Saint Joseph's, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 5-10, while the Hawks improve to 6-11.
In doubles, Engstrom paired with
Cooper Dillon (Brisbane, Australia/Laurel Springs) on a 6-1 victory at No. 3 over Justus Agbo and Matthew Cizmarik. But the Hawks took the other two flights and the point.
Engstrom then defeated Matthew Dubas, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles and
Dhruv Tangri (Punjab, India/Cambridge International School) earned a 6-3, 6-4, victory over Agbo at No. 1. But the Hawks took three singles flights to clinch the match, including two in three sets.
The Broncs return to action Friday, when they play host to Mount St. Mary's at 1 p.m.
