LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was topped in its MAAC opener Saturday evening, falling to Marist, 18-12. The Broncs fall to 4-5 on the season, while the Red Foxes improve to 2-8 in what was their first conference game of the season as well.
The Broncs came out firing going up 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2, getting a pair of goals from
Selena Carrington (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North [Rutgers], along with a tally by
Toni Gismondi (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford[VCU]). The Red Foxes then took control with a 6-0 run to pull ahead 8-3.
Rider got back into the game with a 4-0 run, starting with a goal by
Katie Walsh (Marlton, NJ/Camden Catholic[FDU-Florham]).
Kayleigh Colleary (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart[Butler]) then found the back of the cage before Gismondi and Carrington completed the run. Marist would then take a 10-8 lead into the half.
Marist would go on an 8-1 run that took up the entire third quarter and over 12 minutes of the fourth before Walsh and Carrington combined for three goals in the final 2:13 to produce the final score.

Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter[FDU-Florham]) made the start in net, and played 29 minutes, allowing eight goals and making a saves, taking the loss.

Avery May (Aurora, CO/Grandview) played 31 minutes, allowing 10 goals and making a pair of saves.
- Carrington scored a team-high five goals for her fifth hat trick of the season and 12th as a Bronc.
- Walsh recorded her sixth hat trick of the season, and 13
th as a Bronc, with her three goals.
