LAKELAND, FL – The Rider University women's tennis team won four of six singles flights to earn a 4-3 victory over Morgan State on Thursday morning. With the win, the Broncs improve to 6-6, while the Bears fall to 4-8.
In doubles,
Claire Brown (Duluth, GA/Northview) and
Daniela Naves (Alvarado, Mexico/Club Med Academies) paired to earn a 6-3 No. 1 doubles victory over Marta Serra Carles and Aleksandra Evdokimova. But the Bears won the point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3.
Laila Fishman (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) earned a 6-4, 6-3, victory over Hannah Smith at No. 1, while Rider also took straight-sets victories at Nos. 5 and 6.
Chloe Monachelli (Somers, NY/Somers) defeated Tyler Williams, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5, while
Elle Catanzarite (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) also made quick work of Roua Limem, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6.
Maria Buss (Bocholt, Germany/Bischöfliches St.-Josef-Gymnasium Bocholt) clinched the match with a three-set victory over Lauryn Hill at No. 2, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
The Broncs wrap up their Spring Break trip to Florida Friday, when they travel to North Florida for a 1 p.m. first serve.
