Wrestling Earns Shutout Victory over Bloomsburg on the Road

BLOOMSBURG, PA – For the first time since 2016, the Rider wrestling team earned a 47-0 shutout victory over Bloomsburg on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Broncs started off strong early with the dual beginning at 125 lbs where Noah Michaels earned a fall over Major Lewis in the opening period to get Rider on the board.

Will Betancourt earned a 9-1 major decision over Kade Kluce at 133 lbs to extend the Broncs' lead to 10-0.

After a forfeit at 141 lbs, Matt Hoelke had an impressive showing at 149 lbs where he took on Nik Voros. After three takedowns in the first period, Hoelke had the 9-3 advantage early on. Hoelke would continue his dominant performance picking up five more points in the second period to hold a 16-5 lead. The senior closed out the match with two more takedowns en route to a 23-7 tech fall.

At 157 lbs, No. 27 Colton Washleski faced a tough match against William Morrow. A key escape and strong performance in the top position ultimately made the difference, as the junior earned a hard-fought 2-0 victory.

No. 30 Enrique Munguia and Michael Wilson each earned bonus points for the Broncs with Munugia earning a fall and Wilson picking up a 20-2 tech fall over Logan Barker.

With the Broncs leading 35-0, Liam Scrivanich faced Nick Foster at 184 lbs. Riding time played a big factor with Scrivanich earning a solo point to get the 1-0 decision.

The Broncs secured the final two bouts with Brock Zurawski (197 lbs) earning a 7-5 decision over Mason Rebuck and Collin French (285 lbs) earning a fall over Tyler McCatharn to secure the shutout victory.
