Women's Basketball Sees Winning Streak Come to End at Siena

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Rider University women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling at Siena, 68-49. The Broncs drop to 6-16 overall and 4-9 in MAAC play, while the Saints improve to 12-10 on the season and 9-4 in league play.
 
After the Saints grabbed a 9-3 lead early, Rider went on a 6-0 run, including four points by Winner Bartholomew (Abuja, Nigeria/Day Secondary School Birgi) to even the score 9-9. The Saints took control of the game from that point, going on a 9-0 run and eventually leading 21-11 after 10 minutes.
 
Leading 24-13 early in the second, Siena went on a 10-0 run, and despite four points from Mariona Cos-Morales (Matadepera, Spain/IES Matadepera [Casper College]) during a 6-1 run to close out the half, the Broncs trailed 35-19 at the break.
 
A strong start to the third saw Siena extend the lead to 44-21, and Siena led 49-30 entering the fourth.
 
After a three from Gabby Turco (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Crest[La Salle/Saint Anselm]) saw Rider trim the lead to 53-38 early in the fourth, Siena hit three-straight threes to make it 62-38 and end Rider's comeback hopes.
