STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Fastrack National Invitational concluded on Friday, with the Rider women's indoor track and field team delivering a strong performance.
In the field events,
Mariah Stephens and
Samara Jones each had a standout day. In the long jump event, Stephens placed first with a mark of 5.98m. Jones finished at the top of the competition in the triple jump event, marking 11.92m.
In the 400m event,
Tamara Rawles and
Amari Pinkett led the Broncs each placing in the top ten. Rawles finished fifth (56.70) while Pinkett took home a seventh-place finish (57.21).

"We had a really nice meet today. Today was filled with some big time performances and some big steps forward by many. This is exactly what we needed going into the championship season.
Mariah had a great day with a huge mark in the long jump. She also had nice improvement in the hurdles. It was really nice to see her have a big breakthrough today. She is a big time performer.
Sammy Jones was great today. She had two PRs today with a huge mark in the triple jump. Coach Siley had known this was coming for quite some time based on training. This is a big confidence builder for her.
The women's 400 was outstanding today lead by Tamara. She has been on the cusp of a big one and it finally came today. She is such a fierce competitor. Amari has been so impressive as a freshman. Every week she keeps getting better and better.
The women's 60 was another strong event with Dylan, Valencia, and Taylor leading the way. Valencia had a great day and she is ready for a big championship season."
