Santiago Named MAAC Player of the Year to Highlight All-Conference Honors

EDISON, NJ – Ahead of Saturday's conference tournament semifinals, the MAAC announced its selections for All-Conference Teams and major awards Thursday morning. Senior Kiannisha Santiago (San Juan, PR/Hudson Catholic (NJ)) earned her third-straight All-MAAC honor, being named to the All-MAAC First Team for the second-straight season, and was also named the 2025 MAAC Player of the Year. Graduate student middle hitter Carley McAleavey (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) and junior setter McKenna Mason (Hilton Head Island, SC/Hilton Head) both earned nods on the Second Team All-MAAC.

Santiago was dominant in her senior season, finishing the regular season second in the conference at 3.92 kills per set. At Manhattan, Santiago recorded her 1,000th career kill, just the 10th Bronc in program history to reach the milestone. A two-time MAAC Player of the Week, she led all players in conference play, averaging 4.36 kills per set against league opponents. Santiago had 18 matches with double-digit kills including five double-doubles. The senior had 10 matches this season hitting over .300 and hit .266 on the season. She is the first Bronc to be named MAAC Player of the Year since Morgan Romano earned the honor in the 2020-21 season.

McAleavey was one of the most consistent players in the MAAC this season, finishing the regular season third in the league with a .351 hitting percentage with 202 kills. Coming back to Lawrenceville for her graduate season, McAleavey had nine matches where she hit .500 or better. In a MAAC win over Canisius, she set a new career-high with nine blocks, on her way to totaling 83 blocks on the year.

Mason finished the regular season third in the MAAC, averaging 9.07 assists per set, including her 1,000th-career assist Rutgers. Mason earned MAAC Setter of the Week three times this season, and was second in MAAC play at 10.39 assists per set. Mason's 963 assists this season are currently tied for eighth-most in a single season in program history entering the weekend.

The Broncs earned the three-seed in the conference tournament and defeated Siena in the opening round Tuesday. The Broncs with face second-seeded Quinnipiac in the semifinals Saturday at 4 p.m. on the campus of Fairfield.
