Nine Rider Athletics Programs Achieve Perfect NCAA GSR

Collectively, Broncs post GSR of 95, well above National average

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Rider Athletics achieved a 95% Graduation Success Rate, well above the national average of 90%, the NCAA has announced. In addition, nine Rider Athletics programs – men's and women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, wrestling, field hockey, women's soccer and women's swimming & diving - achieved a perfect GSR of 100.

"This success is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the entire Rider community," said Rider Athletic Director Don Harnum. "It starts with our coaches for recruiting quality student-athletes and creating a culture where education, personal development and, ultimately graduation, is not just desired, it is expected. The student-athletes and the faculty and staff who support them all share in this positive outcome."

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) recorded an average Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 94 percent. The 94 percent placed the MAAC tied for third among all 32 NCAA Division I conferences along with the ACC and Patriot League and only trailed the Ivy League (98%) and A10 (95%).

The NCAA GSR report gives graduation information for students and student-athletes who entered college in 2018, the most recent class for which the required six years of information is available. It also breaks down the GSR by sport, using a four-year class average (2015-2018) called a cohort rate to provide a big enough sample. The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere.
