BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rider University field hockey was defeated Sunday afternoon, falling at Lehigh, 2-1. The Broncs drop to 7-9 on the season, while the Mountain Hawks improve to 4-12 overall.
Following a scoreless first half, Lehigh struck first just over six and a half minutes into the third quarter. Less than three minutes later, the Broncs answered on the penalty corner.
Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) inserted to
Megan Normile (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) at the top of the circle. Normile ripped a shot that found its way through the traffic in front and into the back of the cage to tie the game.
Midway through the fourth, Lehigh was able to find what would become the game-winning goal as a long drive down the right side was turned into a shot that tucked just inside the far post.
