Csato scores first, but Red Foxes score next three unanswered

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Xavi Csato (Stuart, FL/The Pine School [Stetson/UNC Greensboro]) scored the game's first goal, but the Rider University men's soccer team fell at Marist, 3-1, Friday night. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-10-4 (0-5-3 MAAC), while the Red Foxes improve to 7-3-3 (3-3-1 MAAC).

The Broncs took the early lead, with William Baker (New York, NY/The Calhoun School [Rutgers])
playing Csato into the box. Csato then shot low, left-to-right across the mouth of goal inside the right post for a 1-0 lead at the 13:15. In the 40th minute, the Red Foxes responded, with Adriano Iannello lofting a cross into the box, that Gijs Verheul ran onto for a header for the equalizer. The game remained tied at the half.

In the 52nd minute, the Red Foxes got a shot past a charging Marius Helias (Saint Florentin, France), but Luke Kirilenko (McKinney, TX/Impington International College [Virginia]) was behind him to steer away the would-be goal. But in the 54th minute, Helias came off his line to contest a ball in the box, leaving the net open for Chris Verheul, who fired into the left side of the net for a 2-1 Marist lead.
