What You Need To Know
- Rider plays host to Rowan in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
- The Broncs return four players from last year's squad, including returning starters Zion Cruz and Flash Burton.
- Cruz was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team after averaging 10.1 ppg. in 2024-25. He shot 35.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc, best on the team among those with more than 1.0 three-point field goal made per game and 15th in the MAAC. He scored in double figures 16 times.
- Burton averaged 7.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, posting a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio (15th-MAAC). He started 24 of 30 games played in 2024-25.
- Also back are Cole McCabe, who played in 26 games, including one start, as a true freshman. Sophomore reserve Maurizio D'Alessandro has also returned.
- Rider also welcomes 11 newcomers to the squad. The class includes seven transfer student-athletes, including five with previous Division I experience and four freshmen. Transfers Davis Bynum, Mohamad Diallo, Shemani Fuller, Daniel Helterhoff, Caleb Smith, Devean Williams and Antwan Wilson join true freshmen AB Coulibaly, Kristupas Kepežinskas, Jamir McNeil and Xaviel Rodriguez.
- The Broncs were picked 10^th in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- A familiar face returns for Saturday's exhibition game – Rider Hall of Famer Ryan Thompson '10, who begins his fifth year as an assistant coach with the Profs. Thompson's name appears throughout the Broncs' record book, currently ranking among the Top 12 in scoring (1,897 – 4^th), field goals made (627 – 8^th), free throws made (477, 2^nd), rebounds (734, 12^th), assists (393, 8^th), steals (188, T-2^nd), games played (128, T-7^th) and games started (120, 5^th).   
- 14th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 206-202 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) has more wins at Rider.
