LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team was defeated Saturday evening by Marist, 67-55. The Broncs fall to 3-13 overall and 1-6 in MAAC play, while the Red Foxes improve to 9-8 on the season and 4-3 in league play.
Trailing 5-2 in the first, the Broncs got baskets from
Winner Bartholomew (Abuja, Nigeria/Day Secondary School Birgi),
Emilee Tahata (Springfield, Australia/Woodcrest State College[La Salle]), and
Mariona Cos-Morales (Matadepera, Spain/IES Matadepera[Casper College]) to go ahead 8-5. After a bucket from
Gabby Turco (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Crest[La Salle/Saint Anselm]) to go ahead 12-10, Marist scored the final three points of the opening quarter to lead 13-12 after 10 minutes.
The Broncs opened the second on a 7-0 run, including five points from Cos-Morales to go ahead 19-13. With Rider up 22-17, the Red Foxes made the game's decisive run, scoring 10-straight points and Marist would lead 30-24 at the half.
Rider would score the first three points of the second half to pull back to within three, but Marist countered with an 8-0 run. Down 42-29,
Camryn Collins (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) hit a pair of baskets as Rider closed out the third on a 6-2 run, trailing 44-35 entering the fourth.
Leading 44-38 early in the fourth, Marist removed any doubt with a 12-1 run. Down 61-41, Turco scored six of Rider's nine points, during a 9-0 run, but time would run out on the comeback effort.

- Both teams grabbed 30 rebounds, and Rider held a 9-5 edge in offensive rebounds. Turco had six boards to lead Rider.
