Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Cruises Past George Washington, 4-0, For Third-Straight Win

Diop's brace, goals from Akongo and Da Silva lift Rider

WASHINGTON, DC – Bryan Akongo (London, England/Harris Academy Orpington [Georgia State/Robert Morris]) scored for the third-straight game just 20 seconds into the first half and Momo Diop (Thies, Senegal/Prive Serigne Touba) added a first-half brace as the Rider University men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win Saturday afternoon at George Washington. With the win, the Broncs improve to 3-2-0, while the Revolutionaries are now 1-4-0.

After Akongo broke the deadlock just 20 seconds in, Diop worked a give-and-go into the box with Theo Da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/University of Rio Grande), before finishing with the right foot inside the right post for a 2-0 lead in 28'. Just over 11 minutes later, Da Silva picked up another assist on a Diop goal when his shot was saved and Diop was at the right post for the rebound and his brace.

Ezra Punselie (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands/Zaanlands Lyceum) was hunting his first goal as a Bronc in the second half. He first put a shot off the right post the 53rd minute, before finding the back of the net in the 56th to extend the Rider lead to the final 4-0 margin.
