Women’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Battle with NJIT

NEWARK, NJ – The Rider University women's soccer team dropped its third-consecutive game Sunday afternoon against NJIT by a final score of 3-0. A pair of goals in the first 45 minutes and a late goal in the second half by the Highlanders was the difference in the match. The Broncs are now 1-3-1 on the season.

Despite the difference in the match, Ellie Sciancalepore was able to record six saves in the afternoon, the best of which came in the 43rd minute when she made an incredible leaping save, keeping the score 2-0 going into halftime.

The Highlanders would get the best of the shot count, outshooting the Broncs 23-4, including a 9-1 advantage on goal.

Quotes and Notes
"We lost to the better team today but we are a little disappointed in our first-half performance. We looked at setting up differently as it was the last non-conference game, but it didn't work. We have played some tough opponents non-conference, so can now use everything we have learned to focus on the MAAC opener on Saturday." – Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome

- Despite the loss, the Broncs still lead the Highlanders 7-6 in all-time series history.
- Today's loss was the first to NJIT since 2019.
- Sciancalepore and Bethie Morgan both play the full 90 minutes of the match.

Broncs by the Numbers
- Courtney Carter, Vala Sigurjónsdóttir, Isabell Kronow, and Leonor Alves each recorded a shot in the contest.
- Ellie Sciancalepore racked up six saves.
