Women’s Soccer Drops MAAC Opener at Fairfield

Courtney Carter put the Broncs on the board in the 66th minute

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider women's soccer team opened up MAAC play Saturday afternoon when they traveled to Fairfield to take on the Stags. The Broncs would drop their fourth consecutive game and fall to the Stags by a final score of 5-1. Rider now falls to 1-4-1 on the season. 

The Stags would get the most of the shot count, outshooting the Broncs 32-7. Fairfield had the slight 9-5 advantage on goal. 

Courtney Carter was the lone scorer for the Broncs. The goal came in the 66th minute when Leah Marcell placed a great ball right at the feet of Carter for her to hit the back of the net to put Rider on the board.

- Fairfield now leads the Broncs 21-7-3 in all-time series history
