Tess Ferrie scored the first three goals of her Broncs career to lead the Rider University women's soccer team its first win of the 2024 season, a 5-0 victory Delaware State Wednesday night. The Broncs (1-0-1) controlled the match, outshooting the Hornets 32-8 with Ferrie,
Courtney Carter and
Leonor Alves each finding the back of the net in the victory. The Broncs now improve to 1-0-1 on the season.
Tess Ferrie opened up scoring for the Broncs with a header off
Ava DeGeorge's free kick in the 12th minute of the match to give Rider a 1-0 edge early on. The Broncs would outshoot the Hornets 13-5 in the opening half.
In the second half, the Broncs kept the pressure on, scoring four goals to seal the victory.
Courtney Carter would get things going by scoring less than three minutes into the second half to make it 2-0.
Leonor Alves and Ferrie would both follow Carter's goal by finding the back of the net just 36 seconds apart from each other in the 55th and 56th minutes. Ferrie finished off her hat trick, weaving through multiple defenders and scoring in the 66th minute.
