LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University women's track & field graduate student
Teagan Schein-Becker (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) has been honored as the 2023-24 Rider University Clair Bee Female Athlete of the Year. Schein-Becker earns the honor for the third-straight year after becoming a Second Team All-American in the 1500 meters, finishing 11th in the NCAA finals. Schein-Becker went on to compete in both the 800 and 1500 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.
"Teagan is now our third three-time Female Athlete of the Year and joins Hall of Famers Kelly Hall '85 (field hockey/softball) and Amanda Burke '10 (diving) with the honor," said Director of Athletics Don Harnum. "The many accolades she's earned as a member of the cross country/track and field teams are noteworthy and to see her collegiate career culminate in All-America honors and participating in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials is a testament to all of her hard work and dedication. This was an easy decision and a well-deserved honor for Teagan."
Named the 2023-24 MAAC Female Student-Athlete last week, Schein-Becker repeatedly broke her own program records in both the 800 and 1500 during the season. She won the 1500 meters at the prestigious Penn Relays and was selected as the 2024 MAAC Track Most Outstanding Performer after winning both the 800 and 1500 meters individually at the outdoor conference championship, while also helping the 4x800 team to a gold medal.
Schein-Becker won the 800 meters at the Virginia Challenge and Bison Outdoor Classic. A nine-time gold medalist in outdoor track & field and three-time gold medalist in indoor at MAAC Championships in her career, she was the 2023 ECAC Champion 800 meters and DMR and 2022 ECAC Champion in the mile. A three-time NCAA East Preliminary Outdoor Championship qualifier, she also earned All-East in cross country in 2021, while earning the honor both indoor (DMR) and outdoor (4x800) in 2019. She twice earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors in cross country (2021, 2022).
