Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University head volleyball coach Jeff Rotondo has announced the team's 2024 schedule Wednesday, featuring four early season tournaments, multiple home midweek matches against local opponents, and a new 18-match MAAC slate with the additions of Merrimack and Sacred Heart as conference foes.
 
Temple Tournament

Series History: Temple leads 11-0
Of Note: The teams met for a midweek contest last season, with the Owls winning in straight sets. Rider was held to -.057 hitting in the match, but Keegan O'Connor did lead all players with 12 digs in the contest. The second meeting in 2024 will be a midweek contest in Alumni Gym.

Series History:  Rider leads 32-19
Of Note: FDU snapped a five-match Rider winning streak in the series at the Towson Tournament in 2023. Keegan O'Connor led all players in the three-set match with 15 digs.

Series History:  Rider leads 1-0
Of Note: The Broncs and Highlanders have met just once before, in 2019, with the Broncs winning in straight sets at the Radford Tournament. Anilee Sher dished out 36 assists to a balanced offensive attack that saw four Broncs with seven or more kills.

Of Note: Ole Miss is seeking its first winning season since 2021 when the Rebels reached the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Series History: Northern Colorado leads 1-0
Of Note: The Broncs and Bears have met just once before, clashing in the La Salle Invite in 2008. The Bears hit .355 in the three-set match. The teams will face each other twice during the tournament this season.

Series History: George Washington leads 3-0
Of Note: The Broncs and Revolutionaries last met in 2022 at this same tournament with the Broncs ultimately falling in a tight five-set match. Morgan Romano led the Broncs with 23 kills in the contest.

Series History: Series Tied 1-1
Of Note: These teams met for the first time ever in 2019, a Hoya victory, before the Broncs evened series in this tournament in 2022. Julia Slivka had a double-double in that match with 31 assists and 13 digs.

Of Note: The Jaguars and Broncs will meet for the first time ever this season. IUPUI is in search of a double-digit win total for the first time since 2017.

Series History:  Chattanooga leads 1-0
Of Note: The teams have met just once before, a three-set win for the Mocs in 1999. Chattanooga reached the SoCon semifinals last year helped by Morgan Romano, who joined the Mocs as a graduate transfer after her decorated four-year career with the Broncs.

Series History: First Ever Meeting
Of Note: The Broncs and Hokies will take the court for the first time when Rider faces the hosts to wrap up the tournament. The Hokies defeated fellow MAAC competition, Quinnipiac, in three sets last season.

Series History: Lehigh leads 24-10
Of Note: The Broncs and Mountain Hawks last met in 2022, a five-set reverse sweep victory for Lehigh as part of the Lehigh Tournament that saw Pamela Loh and Brynn Johnson earn All-Tournament Team honors.

Series History: Series tied 14-14
Of Note: After the Bobcats won the first meeting last season, and led the second matchup two sets to none, the Broncs responded to win the final three sets, securing a MAAC Tournament berth in the final weekend of the regular season. Kiannisha Santiago had a career-high 19 kills in the five-set victory.

Series History: Rider leads 1-0
Of Note: One of two teams to join the MAAC from the NEC this year, the Broncs defeated Merrimack in their only ever meeting back in 2021 when Morgan Romano had 18 kills, 10 digs, and four aces in a three-set win over the Warriors.
 
Saint Peter's University

Series History: Rider leads 39-21
Of Note: The Broncs swept the Peacocks in their regular-season series in 2023. The Broncs have now won nine-straight and 27 of the last 28 meetings in the series. Both Ryley Frye and Makenna Mason reached double digits in assists in both wins last season.

Of Note: The teams split a pair of five-set matches last season as both teams won on their opponent's floor.  In the Rider win, Carley McAleavey hit .688 with 11 kills and no errors.

Series History: Niagara leads 25-20
Of Note: Rider had the Purple Eagles number a season ago, sweeping the season series with straight-set wins before needing just three sets to defeat Niagara in the opening round of the MAAC Tournament. In the MAAC Tournament match, Jenna Amaro had 11 kills, including five during a key 8-2 run midway through the opening set that turned a 19-13 deficit into a tie as the Broncs went on to capture the set.

Series History: Marist leads 34-22
Of Note: Marist swept the season series, including an offensive battle in Lawrenceville. In the four-set match, the Broncs hit.300, but the Red Foxes countered by hitting .312 as a team in the match.

The Pioneers were the top seed in last season's NEC Tournament before being upset in the NEC Semifinals.

Of Note: Fairfield earned the sweep over the Broncs last season on their way to winning the MAAC Regular Season Title. In the MAAC Tournament, the Broncs took the opening set before falling to the Stags in four sets, who went on to win the MAAC Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
