EDISON, NJ – Sophomore
PJ Craig (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and
Joe Tiroly (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week the league office today announced. For both Tiroly and Craig, it is their first MAAC weekly honor of the year.
Craig was excellent in his game one start vs Manhattan going six innings allowing only one run and two hits earning the win to move to a team-best 7-3 on the year. Craig also was named to the first-team All-MAAC early today finishing the regular season tied for second in the MAAC in wins and second on the team with a 5.28 ERA.
Tiroly earns his first MAAC weekly award following a strong series to finish the regular season. Tiroly finished the series with two homers and three RBIs with a bulk of his damage coming in the opening game vs Manhattan. Early today, Tiroly was named to the All-MAAC Second Team and the MAAC All-Rookie team after a sensational freshman season. Tiroly finished the year tied for the team lead in HRs (9) and third on the team in RBIs (38). Tiroly was outstanding in the final month of the season, batting .295 while driving in 20 RBIs with six homers.
Rider returns to action on Wednesday as the play No. 6 Marist in the opening game of the 2024 MAAC Baseball Championships.
