FAIRFIELD, CT –
Roger Martinez (Girona, Spain/Saint George's School) won at No. 4 singles, but the Rider University men's tennis team fell at Fairfield, 6-1, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 4-15 (1-1 MAAC), while the Stags improve to 9-8 (3-0 MAAC).
The Stags took all three doubles flights, with

In singles, Martinez came away with a victory in a third-set tie-breaker, as Fairfield had already clinched the match. Martinez got past Keean Shah, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4), at No. 4. Fairfield took straight-sets victories at Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 6 to clinch the match, while
Nathan Slattery (Nenagh, Ireland) forced a third set, but fell to Nick Condos, 6-4, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 3.
"We didn't adjust to the conditions, plain and simple," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "Nothing more to say. We need to let it go and get ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a big day and they need to be ready to go."
The Broncs return to action Sunday, when they play host to Quinnipiac. First serve is scheduled for noon.
