Kirwin Signs With The Boston Red Sox

Former Rider All-American Danny Kirwin picked up by MLB organization

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ- Former Rider University pitcher Danny Kirwin (Lansdale, PA, North Penn) has agreed to terms with the Boston Red Sox.

"Dan deserves this opportunity. He has worked extremely hard since he arrived at Rider and now he can say he's a professional baseball player," said Rider Baseball Head Coach Dr. Barry Davis "We are proud of Danny and wish him nothing but the best."

Kirwin heads to the pros following a stellar career with the Broncs highlighted by being named an All-American in 2023. In the 2023 season, Kirwin was a massive part of a Rider pitching staff that ranked top 25 in ERA in the country, with Kirwin ranking third on the team with a 2.32 ERA. Kirwin was also named MAAC reliever of the year in 2023 leading the conference and ranking third nationally with 14 saves, ending his career with 18.

Kirwin was initially set to play with the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League. After signing with the Red Sox, Kirwin became the first Baller to have his contract purchased by a major league club.
