What You Need To Know
- Rider continues MAAC play Sunday, when it travels to Iona.
- The Broncs are on a season-long three-game winning streak and have won five of their last seven. The most recent three-game stretch covers road wins at Saint Peter's (62-57) and Mount St. Mary's (66-62) and a home win over Siena (91-50).
- All 13 Broncs to see the floor vs. Siena scored at least two points.
- Mervin James averaged 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last week, including 16-for-16 shooting from the free-throw line and was named MAAC Player of the Week on Jan. 29. James leads the MAAC at 19.6 points per game.
- T.J. Weeks Jr. scored his 1,000th collegiate career Jan. 12 vs. Manhattan. He scored the first 843 points in four years at UMass before transferring to Rider.
 - Allen Powell became the 42nd Rider player to score 1,000 career points against Stonehill on Dec. 8. Already a 1,000-point scorer for his collegiate career entering the season, including 620 in two seasons at North Alabama, James became Rider's 43rd 1,000-point scorer with his 1,000th as a Bronc Dec. 29 at Penn State.
- First-year Head Coach Tobin Anderson took the reigns of a team left with just one returner in center Osborn Shema (6.7 ppg., 3.1 rpg.). Idan Tretout and Greg Gordon have each averaged 14.3 points per game to lead the Gaels, with Gordon also averaging a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Wheza Panzo (9.4 ppg.), Jeremiah Quigley (9.3 ppg., 3.0 apg.) and Jean Aranguren (8.6 ppg.) have also made solid contributions.
- Iona leads the all-time series with the Broncs, 46-28. Rider won for the first time at the Hynes Athletic Center since 2017 with a 70-67 victory on Jan. 15, 2023, snapping the Gaels' 21-game home winning streak.
- 12th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 185-179 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
