Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls to Marist, 77-62

All five starters finish with nine points or more

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – All five Broncs' starters scored at least nine points, but the Rider University men's basketball team fell to Marist, 77-62, Saturday night at Alumni Gym. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 8-16 (5-8 MAAC), while the Red Foxes are now 13-9 (8-5 MAAC).

After Rider took an early three point lead, Marist responded with a 14-4 run to take a seven-point lead, 22-15, at the 11:49 mark. After the Broncs made four of their first six field-goal attempts and six of their first 10, Rider would convert just two of their next 13 from the floor as Marist worked its lead up to as many as 12. Rider followed with seven-straight points to pull to within five on Corey McKeithan's (Windsor, CT/Windsor) pull-up jumper with just under two minutes left in the period to make it a five-point deficit, before Marist got a Jadin Collins three to take a 37-29 edge after 20 minutes.

Marist quickly pushed its lead to more than 20 in the first five minutes of the second half and it continued to grow to as many as 24 with just under 12 minutes to play. The closest Rider would come the rest of the way was to within 15, including the final score.

Quotes & Notes
"Not one of our better performances from start-to-finish."

"It starts with me. It's on me. It's on me to get these guys playing better."

(On Defense) "We were poor. Too many breakdowns. We were trying to double the post because we've been struggling guarding the post. Allen had another big game against us tonight. We tried to negate him and we left the shooters open. Give them credit for finding guys and making those shots." – Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett

- Rider leads the all-time series with Marist, 42-28. The series dates back just over 42 years to Dec. 20, 1980. The Broncs are 18-6 against Marist under Head Coach Kevin Baggett, including a 9-4 mark at Alumni Gym.
