Broncs to play three early-season tournaments, 26-game MAAC slate

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University Softball Head Coach Davon Ortega has announced her team's 2025 schedule, with the Broncs taking part in three early-season tournaments. The Broncs will host Sacred Heart in their home and MAAC openers on Mar. 22.

The Broncs open the season Feb. 21-23 at the UNC Wilmington Tournament in Wilmington, NC. The Broncs will play UMass and DePaul twice each, while facing the host Seahawks once. Rider will then head to the Kennesaw State Tournament Feb. 28-Mar. 2 and face the host Owls and Saint Louis twice each, while facing St. John's once. After a Mar. 4 doubleheader at Central Connecticut, the Broncs travel to the Hail Southern Classic, hosted by Georgia Southern, Mar. 7-9. The Broncs are currently slated to play three games each against Georgia Southern and Maryland. However, talks are underway to trim the tournament down to five games.

With tournament season in the rearview, the Broncs play the remainder of the season in the Northeast. Road doubleheaders at Penn (Mar. 11) and Seton Hall (Mar. 19) are next, before the home and MAAC openers against Sacred Heart on Mar. 22. The Broncs and Pioneers will play a three-game set, with a doubleheader set for the 22nd and a single game scheduled for the 23rd. The MAAC schedule this season features three-game series against six teams, a doubleheader against four other teams and no games against the remaining two programs.

Three-game sets are scheduled for Sacred Heart (Mar. 22-23), at Canisius (Apr. 5-6), vs. Merrimack (Apr. 12-13), at Saint Peter's (Apr. 18-19), vs. Niagara (Apr. 26-27) and at Manhattan (May 2-3).

Doubleheaders are slated for at Quinnipiac (Mar. 29), vs. Iona (Apr. 1), at Mount St. Mary's (Apr. 8) and vs. Marist (Apr. 15).

Non-conference at Army West Point (Mar. 26) and home against Morgan State (Apr. 23) complete the schedule.

The 2025 MAAC Softball Championships are scheduled for May 7-10, with the highest-seeded team hosting the entire tournament.
