PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team defeated MAAC foe Mount St. Mary's 156.5-122.5. The Broncs improve to 1-4 on the season, while the Mountaineers fall to 1-3.
Rider won nine events in the meet.
The Broncs got wins on both boards in the diving portion of the meet with
Stavros Xantheas (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) scoring 246.45 on the 1-meter and 229.95 on the 3-meter.
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) got the Broncs first win in the pool, swimming one-two with
Filippo Sala (Davie, FL/Nova Southeastern University School) in the 800-free, stopping the clock at 9:04.52 and 9:08.41 respectively. Rogowski later swam one-two with
Riley Rowan (Simpsonville, SC/Clonlara) in the 400-free, swimming 4:20.53 and 4:20.58.
Dawid Turos (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) took the win in the 200-free, stopping the clock at 1:56.01.
Luke Mesco (Mullica Hill, NJ/Mother of Divine Grace) and
Mike Treglia (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) went one-two in the 200-fly, touching the wall at 2:11.75 and 2:15.31.
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) won the 50-free with a time of 23.73.
Derek Fantano (Morris, CT/Holy Cross) won the 200-IM with a winning time of 2:12.61.
The Broncs closed out the meet with a win in the 400-free relay. Turos,
Cesar Alvarez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/The Ashton School), Rogowski, and Ruddy combined for a swim of 3:31.81.
