BOSTON, MA – The Rider University women's basketball team was topped by Boston University, 64-59, Sunday afternoon. The Broncs fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Terriers even their record at 3-3.
The Terriers caught a flier out of the gate, jumping out to a 13-2 lead. Trailing 18-6, The Broncs went on a 13-2 run, led by five points by
Emilee Tahata (Springfield, Australia/Woodcrest State College[La Salle]) to pull to within one, but a buzzer-beater three from BU put the Terriers up 23-19 after 10 minutes.
In the second, BU extended the lead back out to 10 at 33-23 before a three from
Camryn Collins (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) and a
Kaylan Deveney (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) layup cut the lead to 33-28 before another last second field goal by the Terriers made it a seven-point game at the half.
Out of the break, the Terriers opened the second half on a 7-0 run and maintained a double-digit lead for a majority of the quarter, leading 53-41 with 10 minutes to play.
Down 57-43 midway through the fourth quarter,
Jocelyn Chavez () and
Mariona Cos-Morales (Matadepera, Spain/IES Matadepera[Casper College]) both scored before a Collins three cut the lead to 57-50, but the Broncs would get no closer until a Deveney three at the buzzer that produced the final score.
