What You Need To Know
- Rider returns to action Wednesday, when it plays the final installment of a season-opening seven-game road trip to begin 2024-25 at Villanova.
- Rider's four true road wins are most in the nation and mark the first time in program history that the Broncs have won as many as three true road games in November.
- T.J. Weeks Jr. has been the Broncs' leading scorer, averaging 13.5 points per game. He's scored in double figures five times in six games, including a season-high 19 points at San Diego.
- Tariq Ingraham went for a team-high 14 points and nine rebounds as the Broncs held off Bucknell on Nov. 23.
- Villanova is 3-4 so far this season with wins over Lafayette, NJIT and Penn, while falling to Columbia, Saint Joseph's, Virginia and Maryland.
- The Broncs and Wildcats will meet for the first time since December 2013. Villanova has won at least 15 straight against Rider, and maybe 17, dating back to the 1940's. While both programs' record books have a 53-47 final in the 1945-46 season, both chalk up a win to their respective programs.
- The Wildcats are led by Eric Dixon, who's scored at least 20 points in each of his six games played and averages 26.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. Wooga Poplar has added 13.1 ppg. and 6.4 rpg., while Jhamir Brickus has added 11.7 ppg. and a team-high 4.7 assists per game. Jordan Longino (9.3 ppg.) and Tyler Perkins (8.1 ppg.) have also made strong contributions.
- The Broncs were picked seventh in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Rider has had unique success in three prior occasions being picked seventh, outperforming their projections with the 1st (2017-18), 2nd (2014-15) and 6th (2016-17) seeds in the MAAC Tournament in those seasons.
- 13th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 196-185 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) has more wins at Rider.
