Rider Athletics is enhancing the game day experience for fans at home men's basketball games during the 2024-25 season beginning with the Delaware game on Saturday, November 30 at 2pm.
The new "Broncs Fan Zone", located in the Student Recreation Center Atrium adjacent to Alumni Gym, will include enhanced concessions, a live pregame radio show with special guests hosted by 107.7 The Bronc and the introduction of alcohol sales. This initiative is designed to enhance the fan experience while continuously ensuring a safe and family-friendly environment.
Alcohol sales will include microbrewed beer and seltzers hand-crafted by Druery Brewery, a local establishment on Lawrenceville - Pennington Road. These beverages will be sold at a separate point of sale and area in the Broncs Fan Zone, distinct from the regular concession stand. Fans must be 21 years of age or older, will be required to show an ID and will be given a wristband upon purchase. There will be a limit of one alcoholic beverage per person with ID each purchase.
In conjunction with Druery Brewery, Rider Auxiliary Services and Rider Public Safety, Athletics has implemented a comprehensive plan that includes additional staffing and clear guidelines for alcohol consumption in order to ensure everyone enjoys the game safely and responsibly.
"We've been very intentional and collaborative in our approach to adding alcohol sales at men's basketball games this season," said Director of Athletics Don Harnum. "We are looking for ways to both grow the fan base and enhance the overall experience in the Broncs' Zoo. We want people to come early and enjoy themselves as they support the Broncs."
Alcohol sales will begin 90 minutes prior to tipoff at each men's basketball game and end with 10 minutes left on the game clock in the second half.
Additionally, Rider's radio station 107.7 The Bronc will broadcast a new pregame show called "The Hype" live from the Student Recreation Center Atrium starting one hour prior to tip. "The Hype", hosted by Rider students Zach Jones and Kadie DiGuiseppe, will start at the top of the hour and air for about 45 minutes before the show transfers courtside for the game broadcast. "The Hype" will feature a look at the upcoming game and feature special guests discussing the keys to the game. Listen to Rider basketball and "The Hype" on 107.7 The Bronc Retro WRRC2 or via
