CLEVELAND, OH – The Rider wrestling team has been picked to finish seventh in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) for the 2024-25 season, reflecting a competitive landscape within the conference. Five Broncs are in the top five in their respective weight classes despite the overall team ranking, according to Wrestle Stat's preseason rankings. Last season, the Rider wrestling team defied expectations by finishing the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record in the MAC, despite being projected to finish fourth in the preseason rankings.
Michael Wilson, ranked No. 2 at 174 lbs, is the highest-ranked wrestler from Rider in the MAC. Following him is
Sammy Alvarez, a transfer from Oklahoma St, ranked No. 3 at 149 lbs, and
Colton Washleski, ranked No. 4 at 157 lbs.
McKenzie Bell, wrestling at 141 lbs, holds the No. 4 ranking, while Enrique Munguia rounds out the Broncs' ranked wrestlers at No. 5 in the 165 lb class.
These individual rankings highlight the potential for standout performances, even though the team is positioned mid-pack within the conference. It suggests that Rider could be a formidable opponent in certain matchups, particularly in those weight classes where their wrestlers are highly ranked.
The Broncs open the 2024 season on Nov. 3 when they compete at the annual Princeton Open.
