LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Marist Saturday afternoon, falling 161.5-129.5. The Broncs drop to 0-3 on the season, while the Red Foxes improve to 2-0.
The Bronc men won six events in the meet.
Rider started quick when
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy),
Maxwell Connelly (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon),
Tivon Benjamin (Palm Bay, FL/St. Anthony's Secondary School), and
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) earned a win in the 200-medley relay with a combined time of 1:32.19.
Lane got the first individual win of the day for the Broncs with a win in the 100-back, swimming 53.00.
In the 100-breast, the Broncs got a one-two-three finish when Connelly, Borovik, and
Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley) swam 57.62, 57.87, and 58.17 for the event sweep.
The Broncs got a one-two finish in the 50-free with Ruddy and
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) stopping the clock at 20.96 and 21.45, respectively.
In the diving well,
Stavros Xantheas (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) and
Steven Figueroa (Whittier, CA/La Serna) were one-two on the 3-meter, scoring 263.03 and 2232.50, respectively. The pair also went one-two on the 1-meter with scores of 251.25 and 235.35.
