Volleyball Dominant in Three-Set Win at Saint Peter's

JERSEY CITY, NJ– The Rider University volleyball team won its second-straight match in straight sets Wednesday night, defeating Saint Peter's 25-17, 25-16, 25-18. The Broncs improve to 3-12 on the season, and 2-1 in MAAC matches, while the Peacocks drop to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in league matches.
 
Trailing 6-4 in the first, Kiannisha Santiago (San Juan, PR/Hudson Catholic (NJ)) and Paige Giehtbrock (Clarkston, MI/Clarkston) each had a pair of kills during a 7-1 run as the Broncs took the lead in the set. After the Peacocks came back to tie the set 12-12, Santiago had another pair of kills during a 4-0 run as the Broncs took a lead they would not relinquish, remaining in control for the rest of the set.
 
The Broncs would trail early again in set two, falling behind 10-8, but the Broncs exploded with a 12-1 run, getting three kills and a block by Brynn Johnson (River Falls, WI/River Falls) during the rally that flipped control of the set.
 
In the third, the Broncs led wire to wire. Already up 8-5, Keegan O'Connor (Weatherford, TX/Weatherford) served five-straight points, including an ace as the Broncs began to pull away. Giehtbrock would close out the match with an ace, the Broncs ninth of the match to secure the victory.

- Giehtbrock led the Broncs with 13 kills, reaching double digits for the fifth time this season.
- Johnson had double figure kills for the third time this season, finishing with 10 and no errors, hitting .714 for the match.
- Makenna Mason (Hilton Head Island, SC/Hilton Head) had a team-high 20 assists, her 13th time reaching double figures this year and Ryley Frye (New Hope, MN/Robbinsdale) added 16 to reach double digits for 10th time this season.
