What You Need To Know
- Both the Bronc men and women were defeated in their season opener by Seton Hall. Friday's meet is the season opener for the Broncs.
- The Bronc men were picked to finish third in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
- The Broncs top returners this season are Maxwell Connelly (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon), who won the 200-breast at the ECAC Championships a season ago in addition to fourth and fifth place finishes in the 200- and 100-breast respectively at the MAAC Championships, and Stavros Xantheas (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) who earned a silver medal on the 1-meter and bronze medal on the 3-meter in the diving events at the MAAC Championships in 2023.
- Tivon Benjamin (Palm Bay, FL/St. Anthony's Secondary School) ranks fourth in the MAAC this season after swimming 51.58 in the 100-fly against the Pirates.
- The Rider women were picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll.
- Hannah Yemec (Bluffton, SC/May River) will lead the women's effort in the pool this season after earning a silver medal in the 100-fly along with two other B-Final performances at the MAAC Championships last year.
- In the season opener at Seton Hall, Maiti O'Connor (South Plainfield, NJ/The Wardlaw-Hartridge School) won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 230.02 and took third in the 3-meter with a score of 203.70 to earn MAAC Diver of the Week honors.
- Last season, Rider defeated Lehigh 150.5-131.5, including a sweep of the 100-breast behind swims from Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley), Matthew Borovik (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield), and Connelly.
- The Rider women were defeated by Lehigh, 211-78 last season. O'Connor did win the 1-meter diving event at the dual meet.
