Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Blanks Quinnipiac, 2-0

McGeechan scores, assists on two goals, clears two Quinnipiac shots off goal line

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Jack McGeechan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) scored a goal, assisted on another and cleared two Quinnipiac shots off the goal line as the Rider University men's soccer team defeated the Bobcats, 2-0, Saturday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs improve to 8-4-0 (2-1-0 MAAC), while the Bobcats fall to 4-5-1 (1-1-0 MAAC).

The Broncs opened the scoring in the 7th minute, as Max Schrader (Cherry Hill, NJ/Scholar Athletes Leadership Academy) played McGeechan down the left sideline and into the box, before crossing to Bryan Akongo (London, England/Harris Academy Orpington [Georgia State/Robert Morris]) for the finish in front. In the 15th minute, the Bobcats got a shot off from close range off a corner kick. But McGeechan was at the right post for the save.

The two teams played the first 33 minutes of the second half scoreless before McGeechan finished in front off Momo Diop's (Thies, Senegal/Prive Serigne Touba) shot off the right post in the 79th minute to give Rider a 2-0 lead. In the 83rd minute, Quinnipiac got a shot behind Rider goalkeeper Adam Salama (Ramle, Israel/Orthodox [Ottawa Univ.]) after he came off his line to contest a ball into the box. The ball found the foot of Quinnipiac's Erik Langwagen, who shot to the middle of the net, where McGeechan headed it off the line to preserve the Rider clean sheet.

Quotes & Notes
"Three points anytime in this league is huge. Quinnipiac is a well-coached team and a very good team. But always we like our chances when we can play on Ben Cohen. For some reason, our level is a little higher when we play here – whether it be the crowd or the boys just into it. We love being on this field and I think it showed today. We had a good performance from first minute to last and really pleased with how we played in transition, our build-ups. The goalkeeper was great in big moments. Everything you want, we put together a full performance today." – Rider Head Coach Chad Duernberger

- Rider extended its lead in the all-time series with Quinnipiac, 8-5-1.
- Salama did not need to make a save in the Broncs' fourth shutout of the year. McGeechan made both team saves credited to the Broncs.
- Salama, Cole Sotack (Doylestown, PA /Central Bucks East [Rutgers]), McGeechan, Martin Chladek (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Voderadska [Montevallo]), Diop, Theo Da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/University of Rio Grande), Andrew Erickson (San Antonio, TX/International School of the Americas [Kentucky]) and Adel Al Masude (Brussels, Belgium/GO Lyceum Gent) each played all 90 minutes.
