Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Army West Point Defeats Men's Soccer, 2-0

WEST POINT, NY – The Rider University men's soccer team outshot Army West Point, 19-6, including a 6-3 edge in shots on target, but the Black Knights defeated the Broncs, 2-0, Tuesday night. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 6-4-0, while Army snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 2-7-1.

The Black Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, with Rider keeper Ben Collins (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington College) making the initial save on a Ronald Zhai shot, but the rebound was left for Kai Thomas for the score.

The Broncs developed countless chances in the second chance, but couldn't find the back of the net. Notably, Momo Diop (Thies, Senegal/Prive Serigne Touba) sent a shot off the crossbar in 57', while Luke Kirilenko (McKinney, TX/Impington International College [Virginia]) had a solid look off the ensuing corner, ripping a shot from atop the 18-yard box, but Army keeper Keanu Likewise was there for the stop. In 77', Cole Sotack (Doylestown, PA /Central Bucks East [Rutgers]) sent a perfect ball to the six-yard box, finding the head of Adel Al Masude (Brussels, Belgium/GO Lyceum Gent). But the Broncs' graduate student couldn't direct it on target.

Shortly thereafter, Army won its first corner kick of the game and made it count. Miles Hadley put it in with the left foot from the middle of the box, finishing off Thomas' corner kick, played down by Zhai.
