WEST POINT, NY – Rider University Women's Tennis freshman Laila Fishman (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) won the D Singles Flight at the Army West Point Invite Sunday. En route to the title, Fishman defeated opponents from Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and two opponents from UConn, including a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory over the Huskies' Isabel Petri Bere in the final.

"Coming into the event, I wasn't sure what to expect. With 16 D1 teams, including UConn, Cornell, Bryant and Quinnipiac, we knew we had to come out on fire from the first point to even stand on the same court," said Rider Head Coach Tom Battaglia. "To have a champion in this event is amazing. We also had numerous back draw match wins. So proud of this team. They know they can play with anyone as long as they control what they can control."

The Broncs return to action next Sunday, when they play host to Wagner.
