WEST POINT, NY – Daniela Naves (Alvarado, Mexico/Club Med Academies) and Elle Catanzarite (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) won first-round main draw matches and Laila Fishman (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) is on to the D Flight Quarterfinals following a win and a default as the Rider University women's tennis team wrapped up Day 1 play at the Army West Point Invite Friday.

Fishman scored a 6-1, 6-4, win over Hofstra's Simran Desai, before Nansi Toskova defaulted to send Fishman to the quarters. Naves pulled out a three-set victory over Sara Annamaria Medved of Stony Brook, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, while Catanzarite defeated Samantha Jaros of Binghamton in the E Flight Round of 32.  

In addition, Jett Coetzee (Miami, FL/Palmetto Senior) won a C Flight consolation match against Fairleigh Dickinson's Gauri Bhagia, 8-5.

The Broncs return to action Saturday, when they continue action at the Army West Point Invite.
