Volleyball Falls in Four Sets at Delaware

NEWARK, DE – The Rider University volleyball team took the opening set off the host Blue Hens, but fell in four sets 18-25, 25-13, 25-11, 25-10. The Broncs fall to 1-7 on the season, while the Blue Hens improve to 7-1.

The Broncs jumped out to an early lead in the first. Paige Giehtbrock (Clarkston, MI/Clarkston) capped a 7-0 run with an ace that put Rider up 8-2. Up 15-11, Rider went on another 3-0 run with a Giehtbrock ace, capping the rally to give the Broncs a cushion they would use to take the first set.

The Blue Hens took the second set convincingly despite not having a single run greater than 4-0. The third set was close until leading 10-9, the Blue Hens closed out the set with a 15-2 run.
