Field Hockey Topped at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team was defeated 4-1 Wednesday morning at Monmouth. The Broncs fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Hawks move to 1-1.
 
The Hawks built a 3-0 lead, scoring in each of the first three quarters. Late in the third, the Broncs earned a penalty corner. Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) made the insert to Willemijn Ephraim (Amsterdam, The Netherlands/Vossius Gymnasium), who passed to Semra Said (Mannheim, Germany/Feudenheim Gymnasium Mannheim). Said fired a shot that Perales deflected by the Monmouth goalie to make it 3-1.
 
The Hawks scored again in the fourth to produce the final score.

- Despite Monmouth's win Rider still leads the all-time series 25-16-3.
Carlee Fulton (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) made the start in goal and played all 60 minutes, making a career-high nine saves and taking the loss.
- Ang Borisow (Harleysville, PA/Souderton), Kiera Guckavan (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area), Kate Mahmud (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), Said, Perales, Megan Normile (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt), Lyric Scott (Union, NJ/Union), Carli Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East[App State]), and Alyssa Hoffman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) played all 60 minutes for the Broncs.
