Box Score HAMILTON, NY – The Rider University field hockey team forced overtime, but ultimately fell in the extra session, 2-1, at Colgate Sunday afternoon. Both teams evened their records at 1-1.
The Broncs played from behind for a majority of the game as the Raiders' lone shot in the opening quarter tucked just inside the post to give Colgate the early lead.
Colgate maintained the lead into the fourth quarter. Early in the fourth, the Broncs earned a penalty corner. On the corner,
Alyssa Hoffman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) saw her shot get saved, but in the chaos of the rebound, she found a way to get the ball to the stick of
Carli Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East[App State]), who made the play to tie the score and force the extra session.
In overtime, the Raiders controlled play, earning four corners and out-shooting the Broncs 6-0, resulting in a goal off a corner to end the game.
