LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ- Leonor Alves scored her first collegiate goal as the Rider University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Wagner Thursday night at Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs move to 1-0-0 on the season, while Wagner starts at 0-1-0 with the loss in both teams' season opener.
After a scoreless first half, Alves netted what ended up being the game winner, finding her way through traffic and scoring in the 68th minute.
The Broncs controlled the pace of the game generating more shots than Wagner and more shots on goal throughout the contest. Wagner finished with only 5 shots with 3 being on goal which were all stopped by Ellie Sciancalepore who picked up her 11th career shutout.
