LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ- Leonor Alves scored her first collegiate goal as the Rider University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Wagner Thursday night at Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs move to 1-0-0 on the season, while Wagner starts at 0-1-0 with the loss in both teams' season opener.

After a scoreless first half, Alves netted what ended up being the game winner, finding her way through traffic and scoring in the 68th minute.

The Broncs controlled the pace of the game generating more shots than Wagner and more shots on goal throughout the contest. Wagner finished with only 5 shots with 3 being on goal which were all stopped by Ellie Sciancalepore who picked up her 11th career shutout.

Quotes and Notes
-"It was a really good challenge and I think you saw that in the first half we are trying to figure out what they are playing and once we do that we start to come together and communicate to the players and make the adjustments. It was good I think we competed hard, they are always a tough team for us to compete against so to go out play hard and get the shutout and control the game enough to out shoot the opponent is really really pleasing. – Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome
- Rider improved its lead in the all-time series to 9-5 against the Seahawks.
- Sciancalepore picked up her 11th career shutout.
- Sciancalepore, Genevieve Ryan, Samantha Sharrocks, Emma Cordero, and Abbie Roberts all played 90 minutes.
