LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University senior third baseman
Brianna Koonce (Warminster, PA/William Tennent) has been selected MAAC Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Koonce earns her first-career MAAC weekly honor after wrapping up her senior season with a flurry, hitting .533 (8-15) with two doubles and a home run, driving in four and scoring a run as the Broncs went 3-3 on the road at Mount St. Mary's, Canisius and Niagara.
Koonce had a hit in both games against Mount St. Mary's, including a 2-for-3 effort with a solo home run in Game 2. At Niagara, Koonce went 5-for-6 with a pair of doubles, a walk and three RBI's as Rider swept the Purple Eagles.
Koonce becomes Rider's first MAAC weekly honoree since
Fallyn Stoeckel (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) took Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 28, and is the Broncs' first MAAC Player of the Week since
Elena Gonzalez took the honor on March 8, 2022.
