LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's tennis team fell to Fordham, 7-0, in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 7-12 on the year, while the Rams are now 7-12.
The Rams swept all three doubles flights, as well as all six singles matches. After taking all three doubles flights convincingly, the Rams also won all six singles flights in straight sets. The closest the Broncs came to taking a set was
Dylan Lachmanen (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) at No. 5. Lachmanen fell in the second set, 7-6 (4), to John Mascone, after falling in the first set, 6-1.
"Credit to a very talented Fordham team," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "They really came out on all fronts and really stuck it to us. Tough stretch of the season with so many matches, but we need to answer the bell each and every day."
The Broncs return to action Monday, when they get one final non-conference tune-up at Loyola (Md.). First serve from Baltimore is scheduled for 2 p.m.
