What You Need To Know
- Rider begins MAAC Championship play Wednesday night when it plays the winner of Tuesday's Opening Round game between Fairfield and Saint Peter's.
- Rider is 17-24 all-time in the MAAC Tournament. This is the fifth time the Broncs are the No. 2 seed. Rider has not fared well in that position, falling on three occasions (1998, 2013, 2015) in the quarterfinals, while also advancing to the Championship game in 2005 for a 2-4 record as the second seed.
- The Broncs have won at least one game in each of the two MAAC Championships played in Atlantic City in which they actually took the court. The third-seeded Broncs didn't get the chance to play due to COVID-19 in 2020. The 11th-seeded Broncs earned a win over sixth-seeded Canisius in the 2021 Opening Round, before the No. 9 Broncs defeated No. 8 Manhattan in the Opening Round and No. 1 Iona in the Quarterfinals last season.
- The Broncs are 1-2 at the MAAC Championships against Fairfield, with the last meeting coming in 2013, when the Broncs were the No. 2 seed and lost to the seventh-seeded Stags, 43-42. The fifth-seeded Broncs also lost to No. 4 Fairfield in the 2012 Quarterfinals, while second-seeded Rider defeated No. 3 Fairfield in the 2005 Semifinals.
- Rider has faced Saint Peter's at MAAC Championships more than any other team and is 3-6 all-time against the Peacocks. Six of the meetings have come in the quarterfinals, with Saint Peter's taking a 4-2 advantage in those games. Most recently, the third-seeded Peacocks defeated the 11th-seeded Broncs in the 2021 MAAC Championship Quarterfinals.
-
Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson eclipsed Mike Ringgold's program games played record with his 134th game played on Feb. 26 and has now played 136 games..
-
Dwight Murray, Jr. and
Mervin James earned All-MAAC honors, with Murray being selected to the First Team and James taking Second Team.
- 11th-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 177-165 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
