FAIRFIELD, CT – Despite a career-high 19 points from
Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) the Rider University women's basketball team fell 62-49 Saturday afternoon at Fairfield. The Broncs fall to 5-17 on the season, and 2-11 in MAAC play. The Stags improve to 13-9 on the year, and 9-4 in league play.
Both sides struggled in the opening quarter offensively combining to go 7-for-26, but the Stags came out of the quarter with an 8-6 advantage.
Victoria Toomey (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) had four of Rider's six points in the quarter.
Leading 10-8, the Stags used a 7-2 run to build a lead. But threes from
Molly Lynch (Sea Girt, NJ/Rutgers Prep),
Jessika Schiffer (Iserlohn, Germany/Deutschhaus Gymnasium Würzburg[Buffalo]), and Mobley put Rider in front 19-17. The teams would go into the locker room tied at 24-24.
A steal and subsequent layup by Mobley gave Rider a 28-27 lead early in the third, but the Stags responded with a 17-1 run to go up 44-29. Fairfield would lead 47-32 after three.
Fairfield would grow the lead as large as 21 at 59-38. Rider would close out the game on a 9-2 run, capped by back-to-back baskets from
Emily Strunk (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg).

- Rider shot 41.3% (19-46) from the field, and 33.3% (6-18) from three. The Stags shot 46.4% (26-56) from the floor, and were 31.6% (6-19) from behind the arc.
- Fairfield had a 34-26 edge on the glass, with a 10-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mobley and Lynch each had four boards to lead Rider.
- The Broncs had 12 assists on their 19 made baskets, led by three each from Lynch and
Makayla Firebaugh (Winchester, VA/James Wood).
