What You Need To Know
- Rider travels to Manhattan Sunday in search of its seventh-straight victory.
- Combined with Manhattan's overtime win over Siena Friday, the Broncs (9-3 MAAC) moved into a tie atop the MAAC standings with the Saints with their convincing 82-61 win over Saint Peter's on Friday. Iona sits a game back of Rider and Siena in the win column at 8-3.
- Rider's coaching staff will wear all black and "equal sign" pins in participating in Equality and Inclusion Night, the DEI Alliance's nationwide campaign designed to use our college basketball platform to keep equality in the national conversation.
- Following a three-game losing skid, the Broncs have won their next six, including a dramatic 70-67 win at Iona, erasing an 18-point second-half deficit and snapping the Gaels' 21-game home winning streak. The Broncs trailed at the half in the first five games and erased double-digit deficits in four. Most recently, Rider doubled up Saint Peter's in the first half and coasted to an 82-61 win.
- Five Broncs scored in double figures and RU shot 54.2 percent (26-48) vs. SPU.
- Allen Powell hit the game-tying putback to beat the regulation buzzer and scored seven more points in overtime as the Broncs defeated Fairfield in overtime on Jan. 29. It was Rider's first overtime win in more than five years.
- Dwight Murray, Jr. continues to be the Broncs' do-it-all point guard, averaging 16.5 ppg., shooting 37.8 percent from deep. Murray's 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game are best on the team and his 4.7 rebounds are third.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Manhattan, 36-26. The two teams split the regular-season series last year, before Rider won in the MAAC Tournament Opening Round. Rider took this year's first meeting in Lawrenceville, 67-65, on Jan. 22. The Broncs are 15-8 against Manhattan under Head Coach Kevin Baggett. However, the Jaspers own a 6-5 edge at Draddy Gym in that time.
- Manhattan features five scorers averaging in double figures, led by Ant Nelson (15.4 ppg.) and Samir Stewart (14.2 ppg.). Nelson has also led the Jaspers at 4.6 assists and 2.0 steals (1st-MAAC) per contest. Josh Roberts has added 12.4 points and a MAAC-leading 9.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.
- 11th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 173-161 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
