What You Need To Know
- Rider travels to Quinnipiac Sunday afternoon, looking to snap an overall five-game losing streak to the Bobcats and a five-game skid in Hamden.
- The Broncs saw their eight-game winning streak snapped last time out against Canisius. The Broncs hadn't lost since Jan. 8 at Siena and had defeated Fairfield and Manhattan twice each, along with single wins over Iona, Marist, Niagara and Saint Peter's in the span.
-
Allen Powell scored a game-high 18 points, including the game-winning jumper with 7.3 seconds remaining against Fairfield on Feb. 10. His heroics came after hitting the game-tying putback to beat the regulation buzzer and scoring seven more points in overtime as the Broncs defeated Fairfield on Jan. 29.
-
Dwight Murray, Jr. continues to be the Broncs' do-it-all point guard, averaging 16.5 ppg., shooting 40.8 percent from deep. Murray's 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game are best on the team and his 4.6 rebounds are third.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac, 13-9. However, after dominating the series' first 14 games, 12-2, the Bobcats have won seven of the last eight, including the last five. The Broncs have lost their last five in Hamden and are 3-7 all-time at Quinnipiac.
- Quinnipiac features a balanced attack, with Dezi Jones leading the Bobcats at 11.4 points per game. Matt Balanc is a shade behind at 11.3 ppg. Columbia grad transfer Ike Nweke averages 10.4 ppg. and 6.0 rebounds per game, while Luis Kortright matches Nweke's scoring average, while leading the Bobcats at 3.8 assists per game. Tyrese Williams and Paul Otieno also contribute 7.8 ppg. each, with Otieno also grabbing a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game.
- 11th-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 175-162 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
