What You Need To Know
- Rider makes the short road trip to Monmouth Saturday afternoon.  
- The Broncs most recently snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 73-56 victory over Stonehill on Dec. 8. T.J. Weeks Jr. and Tariq Ingraham posted double-doubles and Mervin James added 15 points, his ninth-straight game in double figures to begin the year.
- James leads the MAAC at 18.6 points per game and is third at 7.1 rpg.
- Allen Powell became the 42nd Rider player all-time to score 1,000 career points against Stonehill on Dec. 8. Already a 1,000-point scorer for his collegiate career with 1,541 points, including 620 in two seasons at North Alabama, James is next up on the Rider list with 921 points as a Bronc. 
- Monmouth Head Coach King Rice added his son, Bucknell graduate transfer Xander Rice, for this season. Xander has paced the Hawks at 20.1 points and 3.9 assists per game. Jack Collins has also averaged 11.3 ppg. and 6.3 rpg., while Nikita Konstantynovskyi (8.3 ppg., 7.0 rpg.) is the Hawks' top rebounder. Abdi Bashir Jr. (7.6 ppg.) and Jaret Valencia (7.5 ppg.) have also contributed.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Monmouth, 33-27. The former NEC and MAAC rivals will meet for the 35th-consecutive season, having played in each of the last 34 dating back to the 1989-90 season. Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett is 11-12 against King Rice's Monmouth teams since taking over in 2012-13, including an 88-62 victory on Nov. 30, 2022, at Alumni Gym.
- Corey McKeithan scored a career-high 18 points in the setback at Nebraska.
- T.J. Weeks Jr. posted a double-double of 14 points, 12 rebounds at Marquette.
- The Broncs were picked as the MAAC Preseason Favorite by the league's coaches. Mervin James was also named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, while Allen Powell joined James on the Preseason All-MAAC First Team.
- 12th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 179-173 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
